Professional photography gear and amateur photography gear can definitely get faulty if the photographer does not maintain good practice. Shooting in places where the gear may be presented with dust, particles, mould, or water/high moisture environment may present the unsuspecting photographer with residues inside and outside of the camera body and the lenses.
Accumulated residues and failing to remove them, over time, cause to an established list of problems. Similar to the way we take care of our bodies, our cars, and our boats - camera gear needs to be maintained regularly to make sure it works to the optimal conditions.
Servicing the camera gear at my studio intends to bring it to the optimal condition at the time of servicing. I have revived pieces of gear that otherwise could cost hundreds - if not thousands of dollars to the photographers. I discuss with you about your options, and you decide whether you would like to fix the problem, or continue with a faulty or heavily infected gear. I use designated professional tools in order to make sure to bring you back the gear in optimal condition after servicing it for you.

I give a professional check of the gear for photographers who wish to buy second-hand gear from other sellers. These days, the purchase of a second-hand gear became easy thanks to the internet. However, since the gear may still cost quite a lot of money, the buyers may not be able to always spot the hazard signs that eventually might render the gear as faulty in the upcoming weeks after the purchase.
I conduct an independent, thorough, systematic and professional check of the gear for both the seller and the buyer. For the seller, I notify in writing on the places in or on the gear that need to get the attention. Such report allows you - the seller - to prepare the gear for the sale in the best and optimal way and therefore to present it for sale with better monetary gain!
Buyers
Those who are inadequately familiar with the gear, and buy it outside of the manufacturer's warranty period, buying a second hand gear may lead to investing your money on a dying gear without knowing it. Sadly, there are many 'bad-apples' out there selling gear in sub-par condition while buyer do not suspect about anything.
With Collins Ryàn independent, thorough and professional testing, the written report allows you to understand much, much better whether this may be a good investment or actually a dying gear item; between a golden egg and a lemon! From the outside the item may look beautiful and shiny, but there are many different things in the mechanical and electrical facets that can lead it to total disaster. You can ask the seller to bring the gear to my testing studio for the thorough check, and get the written report. I never give a different report to a buyer if I already checked the gear for the seller. The report is written only ONCE in order to be as independent as one can professionally be! I give the honest report on the condition of the gear!
